      A level 2 FDLE background check is both a state and national fingerprint check. This check covers both FDLE          and FBI background check criteria. 

 

     What is an ORI number?

• An ORI is a code that tells us why you are getting a background check and lets FDLE know where to forward your report. 
   

• Customers must provide a valid ORI in order conduct a Florida Level 2 Background Check.
   

• If you're being told by your employer to conduct a Level 2 Background Check in Florida, the MUST provide you with the ORI number.

 

      How Do I Get My Fingerprint ORI Number?
 

• The applicant will be given instructions (from the agency or employer) that includes a specific ORI number (originating agency identifier.) Florida Live Scan background checks are completed within 72 hours of submission. Learn more about ordering a level 2 background check in Florida.
   

• If agency or employer cannot provide you the ORI number, ask them if they would accept a copy of your FBI departmental order. If that's the case, order a FBI background check instead today and provide the employer/agency your report.

      How Long Does a Typical Fingerprinting Check Report Take?
 

• National FBI Background Checks emailed results are usually within 24-48 business hours (There are additional costs for mailing a hard copy)
   

• Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) results are within 72 business hours
   

• Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA) results are within 72 business hours
  
  
  Who sees my fingerprints?
   

• Once your fingerprints have been captured, they are forwarded directly to the FBI database for processing. We will only review your fingerprints if the system rejects them due to bad quality images.
  
  How long does it take to get fingerprinted?
   

• It typically takes about 10 minutes from the time you are called, until all of your fingerprints have been captured.
